Description

Anubias nangi is a rare and beautiful aquarium plant known for its compact growth and stunning dark green leaves. A natural hybrid between Anubias barteri and Anubias gilletii, this plant combines the best traits of both species: hardiness, slow growth, and rich color.

With its broad, glossy leaves and moderate height, Anubias nangi makes an excellent midground or foreground plant in planted aquariums. It thrives in low-light conditions, making it ideal for low-tech tanks, Betta tanks, and shrimp aquariums. Its ability to attach to rocks, driftwood, or decorations makes it a versatile and easy-to-maintain choice for aquascapers of all experience levels.

At our Splashy Fish tropical fish store, our Anubias Nangi and other aquarium plants are carefully selected and packed with love! Visit us to buy them online or at our aquarium store in Virginia for a wide selection of freshwater fish for sale, betta fish for sale, freshwater shrimp for sale, and aquarium supplies.

Why Choose Anubias Nangi?

Compact and elegant growth: Perfect for small to medium aquariums.

Thrives in low light: Ideal for shaded aquariums and low-tech setups.

Epiphytic plant: Grows attached to driftwood, rocks, or décor.

Fish and shrimp safe: Great for Betta tanks, shrimp tanks, and community aquariums.

Low maintenance & hardy: Tolerates a wide range of conditions.

Slow-growing leaves: Stay algae-resistant and long-lasting.

How to Plant Anubias Nangi in Your Aquarium

Rinse the plant gently to remove gel or debris before placing it in your tank.

Attach the rhizome to driftwood, rocks, or aquarium decorations using thread, glue, or fishing line.

Ensure the rhizome (the thick horizontal stem) stays above the substrate to prevent rot.

Place in a shaded or low-light area for best results.

Once established, Anubias nangi will naturally anchor itself and begin to produce new leaves.

Tip: Avoid planting directly into substrate as Anubias nangi absorbs nutrients from the water column and grows best when attached to hardscape.
