Gold Lame Medaka Rice Fish is basically liquid bling for your tank. Easily one of the most striking variants available, these beauties show off a bright yellow-golden shade that boasts a brilliant lame (sparkle) under good lighting. It is safe to say these golden stunners are having their major moment in the hobby right now, and it is easy to see why. Their radiant color ensures they will pop beautifully against lush green plants and any kind of dark hardscape, making them a spectacularly bright addition to any community tank. They look amazing from the front of a glass aquarium, but they are also famous for turning outdoor tubs and patio ponds into a high-end viewing experience from above.
Behavior
These fish are exceptionally hardy, beginner-friendly, and adaptable to a wide variety of aquarium parameters, including brackish water setups.
In a standard home aquarium, these active fish are primarily mid- to top-level swimmers.
They are a deeply peaceful species that should be housed alongside other gentle nano fish and larger peaceful invertebrates.
They do best in schools of 6 or more and will display their best color and behavior when kept in appropriate numbers.
This species has the potential to jump, so a well-fitting lid or dense floating live aquarium plants are highly recommended for coverage.
Diet
Feeding Rice Fish is simple. They are omnivores with a healthy appetite and will eagerly eat a wide variety of fish food. To maintain their health, provide a balanced diet of high-quality flakes and micro pellets. They will also readily accept live or frozen foods, such as baby brine shrimp or daphnia, which mimic their natural diet and support optimal energy levels. Feed them small amounts once or twice daily.
