Description
Ludwigia Dark Red (Ludwigia repens ‘Dark Red’) is a stunning and vibrant aquarium stem plant that adds a deep, rich burst of color to any aquascape. With its bold crimson-red leaves and strong vertical growth, this plant provides a striking contrast to green and pink aquatic plants, instantly transforming your tank into a professional aquascape masterpiece.
This hardy and fast-growing Ludwigia aquarium plant thrives under moderate to high lighting, where it develops its signature dark red tones. Under low light, it remains greenish-red, but with stronger lighting and added CO₂, the colors intensify into a deep wine red. Perfect as a background or midground plant, Ludwigia Dark Red adds visual depth and a captivating focal point to your planted aquarium.

How to Plant Ludwigia Dark Red in Your Aquarium
Rinse the plant gently to remove any gel or debris before planting.
Trim the lower leaves from each stem to expose bare nodes.
Insert the stem about 1–2 inches deep into the substrate using aquascaping tweezers.
Space each stem slightly apart to allow proper light and water flow.
Trim regularly to promote bushier, fuller growth and prevent shading lower leaves.
Tip: For the deepest red coloration, provide high lighting (50+ PAR) and CO₂ injection, along with iron-rich fertilizers. Regular trimming encourages lateral shoots and a denser, more compact look.
