Description

The Golden Molly is a selectively bred variety of the common molly (Poecilia sphenops), chosen for its brilliant gold or yellow scales and elegant fin extensions. The signature lyretail shape adds dramatic flair to their appearance, with elongated top and bottom rays creating a beautiful trailing effect. Hardy and adaptable, these Molly fish thrive in a variety of freshwater setups, making them a favorite for beginners and experts alike.

Golden Lyretail Molly fish typically reach an adult size of 3.5–5 inches (9–13 cm), with females often growing larger than males. Their rich, metallic gold coloration and unique tail shape make them stand out in any tank. When kept in well-planted aquariums with good lighting, their color intensifies, creating a true focal point for your aquascape.

Lyretail mollies are peaceful, active, and social. They do best in groups of at least 3–6 and are compatible with other gentle livebearers, Tetras, Danios, Guppies, Corydoras, and peaceful community fish. Provide ample swimming space, live or silk aquatic plants, and a secure lid, as these energetic swimmers may occasionally jump. Their natural curiosity and constant activity make them fun to watch and ideal for family aquariums.
