Description

The Lyretail Molly Fish is a selectively bred variant of Poecilia sphenops, renowned for its flowing, lyre-shaped tail fin and distinctive color pattern. Their vibrant yellow and gold bodies are beautifully contrasted by deep black patches on the fins and body, creating a unique look that stands out among other molly fish varieties. This Molly fish is not only beautiful but also hardy, adaptable, and well-suited for both beginner and experienced aquarists.

Golden Black Mollies typically reach an adult size of 3–4 inches (7.5–10 cm). The lyretail variety is especially prized for its elongated, trailing tail fin that enhances its graceful swimming. Their striking yellow and black coloration, sometimes with shimmering gold or orange accents, is sure to turn heads in both planted and classic community aquariums.

Lyretail mollies are peaceful, active, and thrive in community tanks with other gentle fish such as Tetras, Guppies, Swordtails, Platies, Corydoras, and even invertebrates like shrimp. They are livebearers, so you may see baby mollies (fry) if males and females are kept together. Provide a well-planted tank with open swimming space and a secure lid, as Mollies are known for their occasional jumping.
